Admission into Faculty of Veterinary Science
1. B.V.Sc. & A.H. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry)
Duration: 5 Years
Eligibility :
- A candidate must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2)/Intermediate Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) from a recognized University or Board, including NIOS.
- A candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks for General/OBC/UPS category and 47.5% aggregate marks for SC/ST/DAC category in the qualifying examination.
Note :
- Admission to the Undergraduate Degree Programme under the Faculty of Veterinary Science, AVFU shall be conducted on the basis of the CET-UG AAU 2026 Score (Marks) conducted by AAU/AVFU for domicile candidates of Assam for the Academic Session 2026–27.
2. M.V.Sc. (Master of Veterinary Science)
Duration: 2 Years
Eligibility :

Selection of candidates for admission into the Master's Degree Programme shall be based on the
NTA Score (2026–27) obtained in ICAR's AIEEA (PG) during the Academic Session 2026–27.

There shall be a second channel of admission through a Common Entrance Test (CET) to admit eligible candidates who are unable to secure admission in the Department of their choice through the NTA Score.

The University may also conduct an Entrance Test (ET) for subjects or Departments where ICAR does not conduct a similar examination or where eligibility criteria vary.
Note :
- Selection shall primarily be based on the NTA Score obtained in ICAR's AIEEA (PG).
- A second admission channel through CET shall be available for eligible candidates.
- CET-qualified candidates shall be considered only if they do not obtain admission to their preferred Department through the NTA Score.
3. Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy)
Duration: 3 Years
Eligibility :

Selection of candidates for admission into the Ph.D. Degree Programme shall be based on the
NTA Score (2026–27) obtained in ICAR's
AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) during the Academic Session 2026–27.

A Department-wise Merit List based on the NTA Score shall be prepared for all Faculties of the University. Admission to all Departments shall be made according to this merit list and the prescribed eligibility criteria.

Candidates seeking admission to programmes for which ICAR does not conduct an equivalent examination may be required to appear in an Entrance Test conducted by the concerned Department, as notified by the University.
Note :
- Selection shall be based on the NTA Score obtained in ICAR's AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.).
- Department-wise Merit Lists shall be prepared based on the NTA Score.
- Admission to all Departments shall be made according to the merit list and prescribed eligibility criteria.
Admission into Faculty of Fishery Science
1. B.F.Sc. (Bachelor of Fishery Science)
Duration: 4 Years
Eligibility :
- A candidate must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2)/Intermediate Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) from a recognized University or Board, including NIOS.
- A candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for General/OBC/UPS category and 40% aggregate marks for SC/ST/DAC category in the qualifying examination.
Note :
- Admission to the Undergraduate Degree Programme under the Faculty of Fishery Science, AVFU shall be conducted on the basis of the CET-UG AAU/AVFU 2026 Score (Marks) conducted by AAU/AVFU for domicile candidates of Assam for the Academic Session 2026–27.
2. M.F.Sc. (Master of Fishery Science)
Duration: 2 Years
Eligibility :
- A candidate must have passed the B.F.Sc. Degree Programme (4 Years) from an ICAR-recognized University/Institution securing a minimum CGPA of 2.60/4.00, 3.25/5.00 or 6.60/10.00 for General/OBC/UPS category and 2.20/4.00, 2.75/5.00 or 5.60/10.00 for SC/ST/DAC category (applicable only for domicile candidates of Assam).
- The minimum qualification shall be relaxable for candidates having 5 years of service experience and deputed by the Government of Assam/AVFU to a CGPA of 2.30/4.00, 5.70/10.00 or 45% marks under the traditional system. One seat in each discipline shall remain reserved for in-service candidates of AVFU/Government of Assam.
- Where only percentage marks are awarded, candidates must secure at least 60% marks for General/OBC/UPS category and 50% marks for SC/ST/DAC category.

- Selection of candidates for admission into the Master's Degree Programme shall be based on the NTA Score obtained in ICAR's AIEEA (PG) conducted during the respective academic session.
- A second admission channel through a Common Entrance Test (CET) shall be available for eligible candidates.

3. Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy)
Duration: 3 Years
Eligibility :
- A candidate must have passed the M.F.Sc. Degree Examination in the concerned discipline from this University or any other University recognized by AVFU, with a basic degree in Fisheries Science, securing a minimum CGPA of 2.60/4.00, 6.50/10.00 or 60% marks under the traditional system.
- For deputed candidates having 5 years of service experience, the minimum requirement shall be relaxable to a CGPA of 2.47/4.00, 6.22/10.00 or 56.89% marks under the traditional system.
- One seat in each discipline shall remain reserved for in-service candidates of AVFU/Government of Assam.
