From the Desk of the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome students, researchers, faculty members, scientists, farmers, industry partners, alumni and visitors to the Assam Veterinary and Fishery University (AVFU). Established with the vision of advancing veterinary, animal, dairy and fishery sciences in the North Eastern Region, the University remains committed to excellence in education, research, extension and innovation.

Our mission is to nurture competent professionals, skilled scientists and future leaders while developing sustainable technologies and scientific solutions for the livestock, poultry and fisheries sectors. Through quality teaching, cutting-edge research and effective extension programmes, we strive to enhance rural livelihoods and contribute to the socio-economic development of farming communities.

The University continuously integrates modern scientific advancements—including biotechnology, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, precision livestock farming and climate-resilient practices—into its academic and research programmes. Supported by dedicated faculty members, modern laboratories, research farms and extensive outreach initiatives, AVFU actively contributes to animal health, food security, entrepreneurship development and sustainable agricultural growth.

We firmly believe that the advancement of veterinary and fishery sciences is closely linked to the progress and prosperity of society. Accordingly, the University continues to promote academic excellence, ethical values, innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and farmer-centric research for the holistic development of the North Eastern Region and the nation.

As the Vice-Chancellor, I am confident that the collective efforts of our faculty, students, researchers, staff, alumni and stakeholders will further strengthen AVFU as a premier centre of excellence in veterinary and fishery sciences. I extend my best wishes to everyone associated with the University and warmly invite you to join us in our shared journey towards scientific advancement, sustainable development and societal transformation.
