The Office of the Dean, Faculty of Fishery Science (FFSc), Assam Veterinary and Fishery University functions as the principal academic and administrative authority for fisheries education under the University. The office is responsible for coordination and supervision of academic, practical training, extension, student welfare and student research activities of the constituent fisheries college. It ensures implementation of academic regulations, maintenance of educational standards and smooth conduct of undergraduate programmes in fisheries science, while postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes are conducted as per the guidelines and recommendations of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The office also promotes faculty development, institutional planning and academic excellence in fisheries and allied sciences.

Activities & Duties of the Dean

Administration and overall coordination of academic activities of the constituent college under the Faculty of Fishery Science.
Ensuring implementation of academic policies, curriculum structure and educational standards prescribed for fisheries education by the competent authorities.
Supervision and coordination of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Planning and execution of academic calendars, teaching schedules, class routines and instructional programmes of the Faculty.
Monitoring student-related academic matters including admission, registration, attendance, examinations and academic performance.
Organization and supervision of practical classes, field training, educational tours, industrial attachment and internship programmes for students.
Facilitation and monitoring of student research work associated with postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes.
Conduct and coordination of examinations and maintenance of academic discipline and standards within the Faculty.
Maintaining coordination with Heads of Departments, Directors and other academic and administrative authorities for the effective functioning of the Faculty.
Encouraging and organizing faculty development activities including workshops, seminars, training programmes and academic orientation programmes.
Ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements, academic inspections and statutory guidelines related to fisheries education.
Coordination of student welfare, extracurricular and academic support programmes in collaboration with the Directorate of Students' Welfare and other concerned offices.
Promoting academic cooperation, institutional linkages and collaborative educational programmes with national and international organizations and institutions.
Supervision and improvement of academic infrastructure, laboratories, instructional farms, classrooms and teaching-learning facilities of the Faculty.
Performing additional academic and administrative duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time for the efficient functioning of the Faculty.
