The Office of the Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science (FVSc), Assam Veterinary and Fishery University, functions as the principal academic and administrative authority for veterinary education under the University. The Office is responsible for the coordination and supervision of academic activities, student welfare, and postgraduate research programmes of the constituent veterinary colleges.

The Office ensures the effective implementation of academic regulations, maintenance of professional standards, and smooth conduct of undergraduate programmes in accordance with the guidelines of the Veterinary Council of India (VCI). Postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes are conducted following the guidelines and recommendations of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The Office also promotes faculty development, institutional planning, academic innovation, and excellence in veterinary education, research, and extension.

Activities & Duties of the Dean

The Dean is the principal academic and administrative authority of the Faculty of Veterinary Science and is responsible for ensuring academic excellence, maintaining professional standards, and coordinating teaching, research, extension, and student welfare activities within the Faculty. The major responsibilities of the Dean include the following:

Supervision and coordination of academic activities of the constituent veterinary colleges under the Faculty of Veterinary Science.
Implementation of academic regulations, curriculum, and professional standards prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) for undergraduate veterinary education.
Coordination and monitoring of postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Preparation and implementation of academic calendars, class schedules, and teaching programmes of the Faculty.
Supervision of student academic matters including admissions, registration, attendance, examinations, and academic progression.
Coordination of internship, clinical training, and other professional training programmes for veterinary students.
Monitoring of postgraduate and doctoral research activities.
Organisation and supervision of examinations while maintaining academic discipline within the Faculty.
Coordination with Heads of Departments, Directors, and other academic authorities for the effective functioning of teaching, research, and extension activities.
Promotion of faculty development programmes, academic workshops, seminars, conferences, and professional training activities.
Supervision of matters relating to accreditation, academic inspection, quality assurance, and compliance with statutory requirements.
Coordination of student welfare, extracurricular activities, and academic support services in collaboration with the Directorate of Students' Welfare and other concerned offices.
Promotion of academic collaborations and professional interactions with national and international institutions.
Development and maintenance of academic infrastructure, teaching facilities, laboratories, and learning resources within the Faculty.
Execution of all other academic and administrative responsibilities assigned by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.
