A. Achievements in Academics/Teaching
- Till date, 65 MVSc and 16 PhD students have successfully completed degrees in Veterinary Pathology.
- A total of 9 (nine) students from the Department of Pathology qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) for lectureship conducted by ICAR.
- Dr. Sarojini Mahanta Tamuli, Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology, acted as "Visiting Research Assistant" (Hon) (1991-1993) in the Department of Veterinary Basic Sciences, Royal Veterinary College, University of London, U.K.
- Dr. Sarojini Mahanta Tamuli completed a training course abroad entitled "A Novel Technique for the Use of Veterinary Biological Science: Electron Microscopy and Flow Cytometry" (1991-1993) at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, U.K.
- Dr. Apurba Chakraborty, retired Professor of the Department of Pathology, received the following awards:
- Dr. C. M. Singh Award (1995) for the best research article titled "Capture Myopathy in Wild Animals: Pathological and Histoenzymic Studies," published in the Indian Journal of Veterinary Pathology, 19(2): 95-98.
- Dr. S. K. Nair Memorial Award (1997) for the best article titled "Neoplasms in Nonhuman Primates in Assam State Zoo," published in the Indian Veterinary Journal, 76(9): 645-647.
- Intas Polivet Award (2001) for the best research article titled "Parasites of Captive Wild Carnivores in Assam State Zoo," published in Intas Polivet, 2(2): 173-181.
- Varsha Award (2002) by the Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists for outstanding contributions to Veterinary Pathology in India, especially diseases of wild animals.
- Intas Polivet Award (2006) for the best research article titled "Studies on Tuberculosis in Non-human Primates and Herbivores of Assam State Zoo and its Impact on Human Health," published in Intas Polivet Journal, Vol. 7(2).
- Wildlife Health Management Award (2007) for outstanding contributions in Wildlife Pathology by the Association of Indian Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians at Jabalpur (M.P.).
- Dr. Kamaleshwar Kalita, Professor, was awarded the "Bharatiya Siksha Ratan" Award by the National Economics for Health and Educational Growth in 2008.
- Dr. Apurba Chakraborty was felicitated at Madhya Pradesh Pashu Chikitsya Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya in 2010 for outstanding contributions to wildlife health.
- Dr. Kamaleshwar Kalita received the "Rajiv Gandhi Achiever Award" from the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, New Delhi, in 2015.
- Dr. Sarojini Mahanta Tamuli received the "ICVP Diplomat" diploma awarded by IAVP in 2016.
- Dr. Apurba Chakraborty received the "Pranimitra" Award in 2019 for exemplary contributions to animal health welfare and the veterinary profession by the Blue Cross Society, Assam.
- Dr. Seema Rani Pegu, a PG student of the department and presently Senior Scientist at NRC on Pig (ICAR), qualified ARS in 2008.
- Dr. Rajib Bonia, a PhD scholar, received the "Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship" in 2011.
- Dr. Mahmuda Malik, a PhD scholar, received the "Maulana Azad National Fellowship" in 2014.
- Dr. Lalit Deori, a PG student, was employed as Assistant Commandant in SSB in 2011.
- Dr. Rajib Bonia, a PG student, was employed as Assistant Commandant in ITBPF in 2013.
- Dr. Rajib Bonia et al., a PhD scholar, received the Best Paper Presentation Award (2011-2012) from IAVP for the topic "Incidence and Pathology of Kolinga Brown Breed of Poultry in Assam."
- Dr. Seema Rani Pegu, a PhD scholar, received the Best Poster Presentation Award at the XXIII National Congress of Veterinary Parasitology (2012) for the topic "Incidence of Pimply Gut Condition in Mithun Calves."
- Dr. Bichitra G. Nath, a PG student, qualified the Assam Civil Service Examination in 2015.
B. Achievements in Research

D: Achievements in Diagnostic Services

The Department of Veterinary Pathology plays a major role in animal disease diagnosis.
-
The department extends its diagnostic services to farmers, the Assam Forest Department, Assam State Zoo, private animal owners, the defense sector, and NGOs.
-
All faculty members are actively involved in post-mortem examinations of animals and birds and provide diagnoses using advanced laboratory techniques such as histopathological, molecular, clinical, biochemical, and histoenzymic methods.
-
The department has diagnosed various emerging and re-emerging diseases of animals and poultry, as well as neoplastic diseases, over the years.
