Salient Achievements

Successful domestication and creation of Live Gene Bank of
Wallago attu, Channa aurantimaculata & Rita rita has been done.
A farm stock is ready for analysis on different aspects of biology.

Successful domestication of 15 numbers of different Small Indigenous
Fishes (SIF) of riverine origin.

Formulated and developed species specific feed for both
Wallago attu, Channa aurantimaculata & Rita rita.

1st draft of Directory of Indigenous Fin Fishes of Assam has been published.

Under the DBT funded project "Sustainable Livelihood Promotion through
Integrated Farming System in Schedule Tribal (ST) dominated areas of
Central Brahmaputra Valley of Assam" two technologies viz.
Pig cum Fish Culture and Poultry cum Fish Culture has been transferred
to 50 nos. of farming families from Nagaon and Morigaon district.

is being conducted on River Manas and selected wetlands of Assam.

Described 12 Orders, 29 Families, and 190 fish species from
Brahmaputra and Barak Valley collected, identified using
classical/molecular tools; for 120 species, barcoding has been generated.
Vol. 1 of the 'Directory of Indigenous Fishes' has been published.
