Hussain in National Conference on Managing Agri-Biodiversity of North Eastern India,
held at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, during 23-25 October 2024.
- Best poster presentation in XIX National convention of IAWV Technical
conference, 2025 for the poster "Unlocking potential of indigenous brown goats of
Assam : Pathways for genetic improvement & sustainable livelihoods " authored by
A. Gogoi, B. Das, A. Das, G.U. Zaman, A.K. Mishra and N.H. Mohan", during 28-29
November, 2025.
- Molecular characterization and genetic diversity analysis of indigenous livestock and
poultry of North-East India, including pig, goat, sheep, cattle, and duck, was carried out
using microsatellite markers.
- Polymorphism study of candidate genes related to growth and reproduction in cattle,
sheep, goat, pigs, duck and geese was carried out
- Cytogenetic studies were conducted on Assam local goats, Assam local x Beetal (F1)
Goats, Assam local cattle, Jersey bulls and Swamp buffalo.
- A protocol was developed for long-term in vitro culture of porcine spermatogonial stem
cells (SSCs) under feeder-free and serum-free culture conditions, along with their
successful cryopreservation.
- Selection indices were constructed for Crossbred pigs of Assam; Jersey cattle located in
Assam and Meghalaya; Soviet Chinchilla and New Zealand White rabbits in Meghalaya;
Egg-laying strain of chicken in Meghalaya; Holstein cattle in Meghalaya.
- Diallel analysis was carried out for Post-weaning growth performance of rabbits carcass
traits of rabbits.
- Continuous guidance and technical direction are provided for the formulation, periodic
review, and implementation of livestock breeding policies.
- Mineral profiling of geese meat; standardization of methodologies for value-added geese
meat products; and field-level training on scientific geese farming and entrepreneurship
development.
- Various awareness camps and input distribution programmes were organised in different
districts under the projects.
- Achieved 13.37 % improvement in yearling body weight of Assam Hill Goat over the
base population.
- Artificial insemination using Assam Hill Goat semen was done.
- Fifty-seven entrepreneurs were trained to establish goat unit throughout the state.
- Dr. Sangeeta Sharma cleared Assam Revenue Service (ARS),APSC,Govt. of Assam in
2016.
