Salient achievements

• Evolved economic rations for grower and finisher pigs utilizing colocasia (Colocasia esculenta), Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas), Tapioca (Manihot esculenta), rice fermented waste and water hyacinth.
• Nutritional status of livestock especially dairy cattle has been assessed.
• Different multi-enzymes and probiotics showed promising results especially in respect of low grain diet in broilers and pigs.
• Different organic waste namely poultry litter, poultry manure and cow dung manure used in broilers replacing costly cereals and their byproducts with distinct economic advantage.
• Chemical composition and nutritive value of different unconventional forages were evaluated in different ruminant species and classified them into maintenance and non- maintenance categories on the basis of nutrient density on DM.
• Protein and energy requirement of Ghungroo pigs and Muscovy ducks have been estimated for the state of Assam.
• Level of incorporation of Tumeric powder (Curcuma longa) and curry leaves powder in the ration of crossbred grower pigs as additives have been standardized.
• A total of 38 numbers of herbs, tree leaves, berks have been identified as fodder for wild elephant and nutritional causes for Elephant Human conflict was identified in the Sonitpur district of Assam.
