Salient achievements
- Bangkok haemorrhagic disease
- Mulberry Heart Disease
- Systematic studies of the following diseases have been carried out: Aflatoxicosis in ducks (1975 and 1992), Duck plague in Assam (1981 and 1985), Marek's disease (1975), Goat pneumonia (1981), Wildlife diseases (1991 and 1998), Duck diseases (2005)
- Area of Research : Indigenous Medicinal plants : -
Pharmacological and Pharmaco-therapeutic Studies on Cissus quadrangularis, Vinca rosea , Lantana camera, Moringa pterigosperma, Taxus baccata , Bryophylum Pinnatum, M. azedarach, and A. nilagirica.
Salient findings :
- C. quadrangularis, V. rosea, L. camera, M. pterigosperma, B. Pinnatum possesses significant analgesic, anti-inflammatory and local anaesthetic properties.
- C. quadrangularis augments the osteoblastic activity during fracture repair.
- Poisoning of L. camera in rabbit respond to treatment by Liver extract, Vitamin C, 10 % Dextrose saline and Anti-histaminic drug.
- T. baccata extract showed no miticidal effect against Demodex canis in dog and high dose causes significant increase in blood glucose in rat.
- B. Pinnatum reduces crystalluria and kidney crystal deposition in ethylene glycol induced urolithiosis in rat.
- The neuromuscular modulators of P. cervi were screened and M. azedarach Linn. and A. nilagirica demonstrated strong anthelmintic activity against P. cervi.
- Area of Research : Pharmacokinetics :
Pharmacokinetic studies of - Furazolidone in goat, Pefloxacin in goat, Ofloxacin in Goats, Enrofloxacin in Yak, Enrofloxacin in calves along with Diclofenac Sodium, Enrofloxacin in Mithun, Meloxicam in local goat, Ceftiofur in Rabbit, Ceftiofur in Goat
-
Salient findings : Pharmacokinetic parameters of the drugs were calculated and dosage regimen for most of the species indicated were calculated.
- Area of Research : Drug Residue Study :
Residual studies of certain Veterinary Drug and pesticides in milk and meat were carried out.
Salient findings :
- Significantly high concentration of drug was detected in different tissues after 24 h of intravenous dosing of 5mg/kg, at 24 h interval for 5 days. The concentration of ofloxacin in different tissues were found to be in the order of liver > kidney > lung > skeletal muscle > heart > fat > brain.
- Residues were detected in 5.7 % for Oxytetracycline and 2.7% for Chlortetracycline in the test samples.
-
Area of Research : Ion channels:
- Role of L - argentine - Nitric oxide pathways in the modulation of potassium channels in bladder muscle of goat.
- Role of Nitric Oxide in Calcium Homeostasis in Urinary Bladder Muscles in Goat.
Salient findings :
- Nitric Oxide produces inhibitory effects against Carbachol-induced contraction in detrusor muscle of goat and L-arginine- induced relaxation of goat detrusor smooth muscle involves opening of Kca channels.
- 3-morpholino-sydnonimine(SIN-I) and sodium nitroprusside (SNP) inhibits both the extracellular as well intracellular Calcium ion in goat detrussor muscle.
- Area of Research : Nanotechnology
- Therapeutic efficacy of nano-curcumin in chicken coccidiosis.
- Antiviral efficacy of some plant based nano-particles.
- Therapeutic efficacy of some Nano-molecules in goat pox virus.
Salient findings :
- Nano-curcumin showed high efficacy in prevention and treat of chicken coccidiosis.
- On antiviral efficacy of nano-particles, research is still going on.
