Salient achievements
- Since establishment (Nov., 2005), the Department is imparting both U.G. and P.G. teaching and research.
- At present, 1 (one) M.V.Sc. and 6 (Six) Ph.D. Scholars are working with different research projects assigned to them.
- Besides, teaching, the faculty members also render their service in various extension activities by conducting treatment and vaccination camps, expert service to the State Departments (Vety. & A.H., Wildlife & Forest in disease investigation) and natural calamities etc.
- The faculty members of this department published 48 (forty eight) research papers in different national journals.
- Recently constituted IPR cell under the administrative control of Dean, FVSc, Khanapara is functioning from this department.
- Dr. G. Mahato, an Associate Professor of this department is associated as a Co-PI with the NAIP project on ?Development of Novelty Pork Products and Value Chain Concept under Organized Pig Farming System? funded by ICAR.

- Begged best oral presentation award in ISPAM, held at CVSc, AAU in 2010

- Department has produced more than 25 numbers of M.V.Sc. and 10 numbers of Ph.D. students.
- Faculty members of this department are actively engaged in extension activities which includes vaccination/treatment camps, consultancy services to Assam State Zoo, 4th Assam.
- Police Battalion for equine health check up, free heath care service to animals in Kamakhya temple etc. besides being involved in teaching and research.
- The Department has conducted a National Webinar in association with VIPM Society, India.
- The Department has an OIE wing of Rabies Diagnostic Laboratory for NE Region of India.
- Faculty members and PG students of this department has won National awards and Young Scientist awards.
