It is a matter of pride that the Assam Veterinary and Fishery University (AVFU), since its establishment, has been steadily progressing towards becoming a centre of excellence in veterinary, animal husbandry and fishery sciences. The University has successfully initiated its academic programmes through its constituent colleges and has been actively strengthening its administrative and academic framework in line with statutory provisions and regulatory standards.

At present, AVFU is focused on consolidating its institutional structure, streamlining governance mechanisms, and ensuring the smooth conduct of academic activities. Emphasis is being laid on maintaining academic quality, timely conduct of examinations, student support services, and effective coordination among various units of the University. The University is also working towards strengthening infrastructure, augmenting faculty strength, and enhancing research and extension activities relevant to the needs of the region.Looking ahead, AVFU envisions a dynamic growth trajectory with a clear focus on academic excellence, innovation, and societal impact. Key strategic priorities include expansion of academic programmes, establishment of advanced research facilities, promotion of interdisciplinary research, digitalization of administrative processes, and fostering national and international collaborations. The University also aims to strengthen its outreach and extension services to support farmers, entrepreneurs, and allied sectors, thereby contributing to rural livelihoods and the state's economy.
